2008 Pi Planting
Dear Sisters of the Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association,
Although we are barely into the middle of winter with its hazy shades of grey, brown, and white, it is time to start thinking of greens, pinks, purples, reds, blues….the colors of spring! And what a better way to get those thoughts moving than looking at the Pi Planting order form. What is Pi Planting you may ask? It is our Alumnae Associations annual flower sale to raise money for the Ronald McDonald Houses of the Greater St. Louis Area.
As always there are a lot of exciting options that will add color to your spring. We have a wide variety of 4” potted plants to choose from including Calibrachoa and Dracaena (Spikes), our newest contenders to join our list last year. The Sweet Potato, Geranium, and Mexican Heather are always a hot ticket item. Last year we also added Gerbera Daisy to the list in a 5” pot and 14” Coco Basket combinations. (These Coco Baskets were beautiful; I know this will be on my list for a few Mothers Day presents this year.) If you are a seasoned Pi Planting participant, you will notice that there are a few varieties in the bedding plants that have been removed from our list. We used to offer 5 different types of Marigolds and have narrowed it down to just 3 in addition to removing the Celosia and Nicotiana. (If Celosia was one of your favorites, a similar flower to consider is the Red Salvia. Both were a “full sun” flower). And of course, after all this, you are telling yourself “I don’t have time to plant all these” or “I have no yard for this”, our baskets are a wonderful option for you and are very easy to give as gifts.
So Ladies, here is our fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House that we have done for the past 31 years. Every year, there are quite a few that order some flowers, but there are a handful that SELL some flowers! Let’s make this year different! Let’s make this year the year we have quite a few that Sell some flowers and a handful that order some flowers…Let’s make this year the year that the order form does not just end at your computer screen or your desk, let’s forward it on or pass it on your family, friends and neighbors. If we all just reached out to get an extra 5 orders per member, imagine what that would mean for the Ronald McDonald Houses. You don’t have to all order all your annuals from this event, but why not get a few. Last year we raised about $1500 for the Houses, lets see how much more we can do this year!
Your master order form (since all of you will meet and surpass the challenge to sell to at least 5 other people) is due to me by Thursday, March 13th. You may email mail or call your order to me by the correspondents below. The Pi Planting pickup will be at the address listed below on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26th. I will be happy to bring any orders to the Founders Day Brunch on Sunday, April 27th as well. Thank you all in advance for you support of our Alumnae Association’s Philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald Houses of St. Louis.
