First Annual ADPi Trivia Night

Make plans now to attend the First Annual ADPi Trivia Night for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald House!  The event will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 15808 Manchester Road, Ellisville, Missouri.  Doors will open at 6:15 and the contest will start at 7pm.  In addition to the trivia competition, there will be a silent auction, so come ready to bid on some great items.  Beer, wine and soda will be provided.  Each table may bring snacks and decorations for their table.  The cost is $160 for a table of 8 people.  The registration deadline is March 16, 2008 or until the tables are sold out; so send the registration form today!  Contact Maria Coomes and Sheri Devillez to reserve your table, to donate items or make cash donations for the Silent Auction, or to volunteer to help run the event.

Pi Planting

With the days getting longer, thoughts of warm weather and budding flowers begin stewing.Yes, Spring is just around the corner! Vibrant shades of pinks, yellows, purples and whites come to mind as you envision the petunias, impatiens, or verbenas complimenting your luscious gardens. Blooming hanging baskets of ferns or Swedish ivy complete your patio's décor or provide an excellent gift for Mother's Day (or other special occasions at this time). In addition, our variety of vegetables, as well as many new items including spikes, heliotropes, gerbera daisies or even coco baskets, fulfill the needs of the novice to expert and are great buys since the proceeds from this event benefits the Ronald McDonald House.

Our Pi Planting provides high quality plants and flowers from Fahr Greenhouses, Inc. in Wildwood, Missouri. If you are interested in ordering, you can download the order form and simply send your order to Erin Brasser. Orders are due by March 13th and pick up of the orders will be April 25th and 26th. We would love to have a phenomenal year, so please remember to pass out order forms to your friends and neighbors.

Ronald McDonald Family Room
ADPis are still going strong volunteering their time at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at St. John’s Hospital. If you haven’t heard about this “Family Room” yet, it is truly a treat and “get away” for the Neonatal Intensive Care and pediatric patients’ families while still on hospital grounds. Recently featured on Channel 4 news, the Family Room was the site of a Christmas Dinner and celebration for many of the families with little loved ones in the hospital at the time. It is run solely by volunteers seven days a week 9am-9pm. If volunteering for a three hour shift on a regular basis is something you may be interested in, please contact Maria Coomes and Sheri Devillez. It is truly a rewarding experience.

Can't volunteer any more time, but would still like to help?? Here are a few items that could be utilized in the Family Room:

  • Pre-packaged snack foods (chips, cookies, soups, Easy Mac, breakfast bars, etc.)
  • Soda, Bottled Water
  • Adult board games (Cranium, Trivial Pursuit, etc.)
  • Travel sized shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body soap, razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, pony tail holders, etc.
  • Laundry detergent, dryer sheets
  • Office supplies, pens, pencils, paper clips, staples, etc.
  • Magazine subscriptions (People, US Weekly, Home & Garden, Sports Illustrated, etc.) (Instead of throwing it away, donate it after you have already read it!)
  • Adult sizes (men and women) of sweatpants, sweatshirts, t-shirts
  • Adult sizes (men and women) of socks, underwear, etc.

Volunteer Hours
Calling all alumnae who volunteer for any cause, we want to know about your volunteer hours. We know that many of you give your time to great causes other than the Ronald McDonald House and we want to know about all of the time that our association members are spending doing service work. Please keep track of any time you spend with your church, your child’s school, the library or any other organization so that we can report these volunteer hours to our Executive Office. You may email them and the cause to Maria Coomes and Sheri Devillez to include in our report at the end of the year.

Save Your Tabs for the Ronald McDonald House
The Tab Top Program is a great way to support the Ronald McDonald House. The Alumnae Association encourages you to collect tab tops off of aluminum cans for the House and return them to Coca Cola collection barrels at area McDonald's restaurants or the Ronald McDonald House for recycling. You could also bring your tab tops to each meeting and we will have a weigh-in to see how much we have collected. Each pound donated results in $.50 to the Ronald McDonald House. Come to a meeting to get your Ronald McDonald Collection House.
